आमची मुंबई, अने मी मुम्बईकर (Mumbai is mine and I am Mumbaiker)

Reading the ongoing debate rather Political Drama over Mumbai where someone says Mumbai belongs to Marathi मानुस (people) and someone says it belongs to entire India, I just think its another gimmick to create another rift on the linguistic basis or between the regions. I am totally unable to understand as to why is this being dragged on this far??? This is nothing but sounds like a Dog Fight for a piece of meat. I mean just for power how low can we go???

And it is more surprising that the आमची मुंबई that we used to say with Pride is being dragged to the level of being called मराठी मुंबई. This is not just astonishing, but sad that for one’s political mileage they are targeting the weaker and poorer section of the inhabitants, the North Indians and that too specifically UPiites and Biharies.

Interestingly Mumbai’s composition today is in actual a true cosmopolitan. You find people from all over India and foreign nations, plus illegal migrants from some neighboring nations. Ah and our politicians do not target them per say, as these very illegal migrants from the neighboring country are provided with forged / fake Ration Cards, they get enrolled in Voters List, or they are pooled in during the voting process to go and vote in name of some other legitimate voter.

Hell Yeah, the problem with this very आमची मुंबई campaign from certain fractions can be termed as racist in totality. You must be thinking as to “Why the heck am I saying that?” So please consider the following points –

  1. If we would look at the distribution of Who’s Who in the Corporate World, we will find that out of Top Ten Corporate Houses in Mumbai almost all are from non-marathi sect. They are either Parsis, Gujaratis, or Rajasthanis but they are certainly not Marathis……. They indeed are मुम्बईकर (Mumbaiite).
  2. If we look at the Majority of Food Joints, specifically popular snack / coffee houses, most of them we would find are from Kannadigas / Shettys or Iranis. They are not Marathi for sure, but yes they are मुम्बईकर (Mumbaiite).
  3. Go to the the grocery shop next door, 60% of them are operated by Non-Marathis, but yeah they all are मुम्बईकर (Mumbaiite).

Then what is it that मराठी मानुस (Marathi People) are specifically afraid of, they are certainly not in the holding position of Mumbai’s Business Section, and hell yeah it would be real tough for them to rise so high in such a less time. I am not saying that आम मराठी मानुस (Common Marathi Person) is against North Indians. It is specifically the Political Agenda that is driving this over because someone just wants to score over other.

As if the death of innocents couple years ago when Railway Entrance Exam was conducted in Mumbai was not enough for them to learn, they went out and over this time to even Drag the Martyrs of 26/11 in this Controversial Dog War. WHAT A SHAME!!!!! Indeed they (both sides included) must understand that the overall effort was a join effort by both Marathi and non Marathi Speaking Sons of this Great Country India. But hell no each side went on to make a statement for their own men and in the twist just created a mess out of nothing.

I was thinking would it be a good Idea to Convert Mumbai to a Union Territory with Governers Rule and no State legislative Assembly there. Move the Capital of Maharashtra to Pune and resolve the problem. But somehow if that would be done, I guess there would be more resistance and there might even be bloodshed there. More over the idiocy might spill over to the rest of Maharashtra….who knows…..Politicians stoop to any level for their political mileage

Just read an interesting article on Rediff – “An open letter to Balasaheb from a Marathi Manoos” Indeed, The State of Maharashtra means the Great Nation…..something that was Shivaji’s Dream, but seems some hardliners are just spoiling the name. Maratha is one clan the warrior clan from that region and thus Maharashtra just does not restrict to existence of Maratha or Marathi Manus……I guess Bala Thackrey needs to acknowledge this loud and clear before messing with Mumbai

  1. Mayank Bhai, The way things has been going on over the comments and counter comments, one feels that India is going back to its anarchic state which it was in pre-historic times

  2. Yesterday only I recd. an interesting mail on this subject, so thought to share it.

We all should support Shiv Sainiks, mainly Thackeray and take their initiative ahead by doing more…

    1. We should teach our kids that if he is second in class, don’t study harder.. just beat up the student coming first and throw him out of the school
    2. Parliament should have only Delhiites as it is located in Delhi
    3. Prime-minister, president and all other leaders should only be from Delhi
    4. No Hindi movies should be made in Bombay/Mumbai. Only Marathi.
    5. At every state border, buses, trains, flights should be stopped and staff changed to local men
    6. All Maharashtrians working abroad or in other states should be sent back as they are SNATCHING employment from Locals
    8. Visits to Taj Mahal should be restricted to people from UP only
    9. Relief for farmers in Maharashtra should not come from centre because that is the money collected as Tax from whole of India , so why should it be given to someone in Maharashtra ?
    10. Let’s support kashmiri Militants because they are right to killing and injuring innocent people for benifit of there state and community……

    11. Let’s throw all MNCs out of Maharashtra , why should they earn from us? We will open our own Maharashtra Microsoft, MH Pepsi and MH Marutis of the world .
    12. Let’s stop using cellphones, emails, TV, foreign Movies and dramas. James Bond should speak Marathi
    13. We should be ready to die hungry or buy food at 10 times higher price but should not accept imports from other states
    14. We should not allow any industry to be setup in Maharashtra because all machinery comes from outside
    15. We should STOP using local trains…. Trains are not manufactured by Marathi manoos and Railway Minister is a Bengali.
    16. Ensure that all our children are born, grow, live and die without ever stepping out of Maharashtra , then they will become true Marathis

  3. 1. Family planning is not for us; we should produce more kids than we can support. Then, we should not send our kids to schools, unless we can fix the exams. Then we should teach them how to handle a katta, so they can go terrorize citizens in other states.

    2. We should make Hindi as an official language, so people from the Hindi belt have a natural advantage at capturing central government jobs.

    3. We should rig our elections so bad, that the center can’t conceive an election in our state unless they send the Army. If honest Bihari’s like Satyendra Dube write to our Prime Minister and blow the whistle on our scams and ask him to protect his identity, he will always let us know about them. If honest public sector employees, like Manjunath, complain about corruption, we can always riddle his body in bullets, pack it in the trunk of a car and set it on fire.

    4. Bollywood stars should be given farmer status in UP, so they can buy prime farming land in rest of India.

    5. Exams for government transportation jobs should be advertised in North India in only select languages so not everyone has an equal opportunity at getting the jobs.

    6. We should convince the US Department of Labor to stop the labor certification process before giving H1B visa and Green Cards for Indian nationals. People from Maharashtra are stealing jobs from the local americans by actually clearing the labor certification, a concept that is totally unknown to us.

    7. We should send our politicians to celebrate Chaath Pooja in other states so they can make statements like “UP tho hamaari hain, ab Maharashtra ki Bari hain”; that will win us a lot of friends all over the country and thus bring the entire country to the lowest common denominator.

    8. We should start direct train services to cities and states that are trying to develop and create jobs, because we can’t do the same in our home state. As far as trains that only run within our states are concerned, we should burn them every time some one points that we need to take the responsibility of developing our state. What the hell, we don’t pay taxes anyways.

    9. 40% or so of the taxes collected in India, come from Maharashtra, but they should be used to build the Metro in New Delhi and as fodder for scams so we can live as parasites while farmers in Maharashtra commit suicide.

    10. Let us create more Kashmir’s, Punjabs and North Easts by letting more people know that they have no stake in the future of the country.

    11. Let us create a socio-economic environment where no MNC would ever want to come to our state and if they dare to, we’ll create enough un-rest that they’ll just pack their bags and go back to the lousy places they came from in the first place.

    12. Let us also force public sector banks and companies to use Hindi so that more job opportunities are created for people from the Hindi belt. When that is done, let us force it on private and multi-national companies as well so all Hindi speaking people can move around in India with a righteous sense of entitlement.

    13. We apparently grow a lot of rice. So, we should ask the government to fix the price exorbitantly high, so that our farmers can make a lot of money, while the rest of the country goes to the dogs (i.e. us anyways).

    14. We should not purchase the TATA Nano, because it is designed by Maharashtrians.

    15. We should build a railway track from my home town to the town of my in-laws, even if my family is the only one to use it.

    16. We should not follow the constitution of the country, because it is designed by a Maharashtrian- Dr Ambedkar.

    17. We should not follow any Hindu rituals, because had Maharashtrians under the leadership of King Shivaji not stopped the Mughal Empire from taking over entire country, we would have been muslim today.
