In my recent outing in Delhi and allied areas where I was out to understand the pulse of the people specifically of Delhi, I identified that the people in Delhi were more interested in getting better education, better facilities and better services. It was interesting to note that they were more inclined to see Sh. Narendra Modi led government at the center but are equally suporting Arvind Kejriwal for the policies (though dubious) for them. The free electricity, the free water and what not free schemes is what the common Lower and middle income group voter would fall for. For them, corruption by Arvind Kejriwal led government of Delhi is of no issue as they feel that if the Aam Aadmi party wouldn’t engage in corruption, they wouldn’t be able to stand in front of the other parties.
However, one thing that caught my attention was the hunger to excel in the academics and availability of affordable and quality education. The common theme in most of the discussions I had was to have an education system that is world class, supports practical exposure and if affordable unlike the current system where Private Colleges / Institutions charge money to dole out degrees to the students who are not employable in the hi-tech sector without the Organizations spending money on their training and skill development.
For this, what is needed by the current Government or the future one is to adopt “Padhega Bharat to Badhega India” motive. If the current government is eyeing a whopping 5 trillion economy and to have Bharat as Developed Nation by 2047, the focus must be on the education section.
With one of the youngest population in the world, it is important that the Human resource is tapped with right skill development and right education imparted for the purpose. The graduates and above need to be trained with practical know how of using their education for the benefit of employment as well as future growth. At present the Youth is directionless as the Mcally Education System generates pass outs who are good only for clerical job. They have no practical insight in their own field of education and the way education is imparted, it is poised to set them up for failure rather than success.
With Padhega Bharat to Badhega Bharat, Government needs to put more emphasis on vocational education alongside the theoretical one. This will prepare the students with better pratical insights in the field of their studies and will reduce the time for deployment by the hiring organizations reducing their training budgets and overheads.
Whatever said and done, though the people of Delhi might have given up their choice for the freebies, they have provided a valid ask to be addressed by both the Central Government and the Delhi Government – “Padhega Bharat to Badhega Bharat“
